Soldiers and Shiites Clash Again

Reports reaching us is that the Military and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shiites have had a clash with the military right in Abuja. This was said to have happened around this evening sometime between 4 and 5 pm. This is the third time in a space of one week the two parties have clashed. Yesterday it was around Zuba where the military and Shiites met as the religious group were on a procession to Abuja and the Soldiers heading for Zaria in Kaduna state.

According to reports from the military, the clash left three IMN members dead and two soldiers injured.

Well, today the IMN members continued their procession and as came in from Maraba towards Nyanya. When they got to Nyanya, the military wouldn’t let them go further into Abuja town and that was where the Fracas began.

According to eyewitnesses, the sect members began to throw stones at the soldiers who as always respondent with gunshots.

For now, we can’t tell the number of casualties on either side. The major grievance of the sect members is the continued detention of their leader El Zakazy after he’s be granted bail by Nigerian courts.
