RAC (RAPE AIN’T COOL) CAMPAIGN
Wings Music culture is a brand that is out to celebrate youth culture. We are strong advocates of pop culture and we believe that pop culture if properly nurtured can have some form of social good. We believe that the gap between the young and the old needs to bridged and there is no better way to do this by trying to understand the youth language and speaking to them in the language they understand.
We have resolved to campaign against rape by speaking the youth language and engaging the young ones about the importance of consent. We intend to use all at our disposal to have a 5day programme for the campaign ‘rape ain’t cool’ next month, the month of July.
WHY ‘RAPE AIN’T COOL’
Young people are under pressure as regards experiencing sex. They are pressured by what they see on TV, internet and even by what they hear from friends. Many believe that sex is just an activity without repercussions and that it is cool to have multiple sex partners. It is time that we help modify this line of thought that a person with multiple sex partners or people who have sex by force are cool. We need to teach young people that sex is not just about one individual, we need to let them know that sex doesn’t just start and end with one person satisfying his sexual urge. We need to sit, discuss, educate young people about sex and let them know that forced Sex without consent is rape and it’s not acceptable behavior in any phase of life.
WHAT IS ‘RAPE AIN’T COOL’ ABOUT
‘Rape Ain’t Cool’ is a five day event that is programmed to Target young people within the ages of 16-23. The aim of the program is to educate them about sex and to ensure that we drive home the message that sex without consent is never acceptable at any phase of life and that sexual urge is not an excuse to abuse another person sexually.
the program will come in phases and some of the daily programs will be offline at the office while some will be online. we intend to use this campaign to impact the sexual lives of young people in Nigeria and to ensure that the young generation have a better understanding of sex and also never resort to forced Sex at any period in the lives.
